Buying TV media
Everyone pretends their media strategy is the best, and their knowledge or media planning software (operated by juniors) will ensure the TV spots they select will have the highest chance of success for their clients’ campaigns. But here’s a fact no one can deny: Ultimately, the price you pay for media is crucial and will often mean the difference between the success or failure of your TV advertising campaign. We typically negotiate and buy media planning schedules that are discounted by anything from 20% to 55%, depending on which network we are buying from. This is our starting point.
We then negotiate as many bonus and sponsorship spots as we can, free of charge. These spots can add anything from 10% to 300% more spots to your campaign, depending on the season and the network.
Of course a cheap media plan with no media strategy behind it is not going to work. It just means you’ll spend less money failing.
